Which browser is best

My assignment for the past one year also involved testing the finished web application (say website) of my client on multiple browsers and multiple versions of them. This gave me an opportunity to understand how websites behaves (my client’s website in particular) on a variety of browsers. Here is a comparison of four most popular browsers Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Safari.

Popularity: Internet Explorer is the king. Coming pre-installed in the windows operating system works to its advantage. In addition to this non tech savvy internet users (who will always be higher) might not know there are other much better options available. Internet Explorer 6.0 is the most used web browser in the world. If your website is not working properly on the Internet Explorer, you are serving a low quality product to more than seventy percent of your users and risk the chance of them never visiting your site again. Mozilla Firefox is the one that comes next in the list. It is the browser used and loved the most by the developer community. They are followed by Opera and Safari (Apple).

Download Speed: Safari is the fastest browser among the lot. All others take almost the same time to open up a page.

Ease of Usage: Without any doubt, it is Mozilla Firefox followed by Opera. Mozilla has a number of wonderful add ons that enhances your browsing experience. Web developers love it for the tools that are available to create, maintain and trouble shoot web applications. Opera also has good features and most of you might have known that opera is the first to introduce tabbed browsing and quick dial.

Security: Firefox is the most secure browser. Mozilla claims that it is 61% more secure than any of its competitors. It has strict anti phishing and anti malware measures. Being an open source project it has the advantage of a number of security engineers working to make the browsing experience safer. It does not mean you are vulnerable and all your data is stolen if you are using other web browsers. Among the lot firefox is the best.
