A trend that is catching up fast on the top management campuses across the country is students opting out of the campus placements. In some institutes like Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad the count reached double digits. After all, the aspirants go through the toughest of all the entrance exams in the world for management education (CAT) and slog through endless assignments for that seven digit placement offers. Rashmi Bansal, editor of JAM Magazine (if you haven’t read it yet, try it. It would be great) an IIM alumni herself captures the story of twenty five such students who opted out of placement process and are now successful entrepreneurs in her book Stay Hungry Stay Foolish. The name of the book itself seems to be inspired by the famous Steve Jobs Stanford Commencement Speech. Rediff published two excerpts from this book which is now available at leading book-stalls across the country for an economical price of Rs 125/-.
